How it works

Three taps between you and the right order.

FoodLana was built for one person first — so the whole thing is designed around fewer taps, no setup, and type you can read across a dim dining room.

1

Set your diet once

Choose keto, paleo, Mediterranean, vegan, vegetarian or another plan. Add allergy notes and goals if you want to. That's the entire setup.

2

Pick where you're eating

Search a name, a city, a cuisine or a ZIP code — or tap Near me. Not sure yet? Suggest for me ranks nearby spots against your diet, closest first.

3

Get your order

FoodLana finds that restaurant's real menu, then streams back top dish picks with reasoning, items to avoid, smart substitutions, and tips for ordering.

Features

Built for the moment you're handed a menu.

Find a restaurant, any way you like

Type-ahead search by name, free-text search by city, cuisine or ZIP, or use your current location. An interactive map sits right in the screen.

Suggest for me

Can't decide? FoodLana ranks the restaurants around you against your diet and gives each one a one-line reason — sorted nearest first.

Dish picks, avoids and swaps

Not a vague "this place is fine." Specific dishes to order, specific dishes to skip, and the substitution to ask for that makes a dish work.

Endless nearby results

Keep scrolling and more places load. The search radius widens as you go instead of stopping at a handful of results.

History and favorites

Every place you've looked up stays in History. Save the dishes that worked to Favorites, grouped by city, so travel gets easier each trip.

Weight log and a diet coach

Track weight over time, and ask the built-in coach the questions that come up between meals. Both stay on your phone.

Privacy

There are no accounts, because there is no database.

Most apps like this ask you to sign up so they can store your profile on their servers. FoodLana doesn't. Your diet, your history, your favorites, your weight log and your coach conversations are all written to storage on your own iPhone.

The server exists for exactly one reason: it holds the API keys that let the app search menus and maps, because keys can't safely ship inside an app. It stores nothing about anyone.

  • No email address, no password, no account to create or delete.
  • No advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, no data sold.
  • Location is used only when you ask for nearby restaurants, and isn't kept.
  • Deleting the app deletes your data. There's no copy anywhere else.

The trade-off, stated plainly: because nothing is stored on a server, your data doesn't sync between devices, and it's gone if you delete the app.

One thing we don't do

No calorie or macro numbers on restaurant dishes.

Restaurant recipes are proprietary, portions vary by location and by shift, and nobody outside that kitchen knows the real numbers. Any figure an app showed you for a restaurant dish would be invented. FoodLana would rather tell you which dish fits your diet and why than hand you a confident number that isn't true.
